Dev Log 6 - Vertical Slice and Art
Hi,
Justin here, I will be talking about the what the research on steampunk, the art route we took and progression of the game
first off, before we headed to our break we discuss what we want to achieve during the break such as the level design, characters(Player and enemy) and how are we going to approach coding it for our Vertical Slice which we had to present on the 2nd of November, we wanted to present the idea we wanted to do which is a steampunk Metroidvania game we manage to present decent art as well polish main and secondary mechanics for the player. Overall, we achieve our objective for the Vertical Slice and will be moving forwarding adding other features for the game as well creating more asset for the game moving forward.
I am supervising the Art Direction for the game project, I spent many weeks researching about steampunk as it is unfamilliar to me, overall I had fun researching games with steampunk in their themes but also researching other media that contain steampunk which help me generate the first version of main character the player will be playing and the art will be continue to change to better fit the final image we want for our game.
Next week I will work on the animation for the main character such as jumping, falling, walking and attacking I hoped that I will have rough animation by the end of the week and my partner, Erik will continue to optimise the gameplay better and create the other features for the game.
I hope you continue on the development of the game.
