Dev Log 3 - Erik
Hello,
Erik here again with my second prototype for Project TIN. The second prototype was quite similar to the first with only smaller tweaks to work around the theme of "Corrupted Vision". The main difference with this prototype being that the jump was set to automatically go off as soon as the player landed and the level design was tweaked to be a lot more difficult and frustrating.
Playtest and Observation
To my surprise a lot more players enjoyed the new prototype than I expected as I was trying to purposefully make the game frustrating and annoying to play to fit the theme of "Corrupted Vision". Only two out of six players managed to beat it and they all seemed to enjoy it to some degree with mild frustration.
Feedback
-Players enjoyed the auto jump and the timing related platforming related to it.
-Players noted the starting point was hard and unfair at first.
-Players showed frustration after multiple failed attempts but still said they enjoyed it.
-Players enjoyed the pressure of time constraint and forced jumping.
-Players liked the simple controls
Next Week
The prompt for next week is "Nature" and I look forward to making and experimenting with mechanics that relate to it for my next prototype. I am planning to include nature related mechanics like interactive plants and/or growing and moving plants.
